On Sat Dec 18, we picked up Bob & Jean's new 3-series wagon in Las Vegas at the dealership at ~ 1pm. Our first order of business was to have lunch at the nearby In-and-Out before driving to Phoenix.

On Sunday, we drove from Phoenix to Las Cruces NM via Safford AZ and Silver City NM. Climbing up highway 78 to the Apache National Forest, we passed the idyllic BlackJack Ranch.
On Monday, we drove past the Guadalupe mountains, visited the Carlsbad Caverns and then headed southeast to Junction TX.
In the afternoon, we left the Caverns and drove across County Rd 720 (aka Black River Rd) to catch 285 south towards I-10 and Junction TX. The Black River Rd was a real farming road with frequent cow-catchers.
On the last day, we drove from Junction TX to Houston. On the way, we passed through Fredricksburg TX, a quaint little town with many businesses reflecting their German origins.
