Santorini may be best known island in the Cyclades island group in Greece. Its actually a caldera from a volcanic explosion about 3700 yrs ago. On most maps, Santorini is labeled by its Greek name, Thera which was the name of the precursor island. Santorini is very popular with tourists due to the magnificent views from the edge of the caldera. There is a ~600-step option to reach the top of the island from the port, but most tourists will take the cable car. In the Thera museum, incredible frescos were retrieved.
